PRIMARY is pleased to announce that The Arts Initiative at Fashion Outlets of Chicago has been presented with a Gold U.S. Maxi Award for “a cause related project that benefits community interest”. Fashion Outlets of Chicago realized a connection between art and upscale fashion through The Arts Initiative, a newly formed collective dedicated to placing highly interactive visual art into public venues, founded by Arthur Weiner.
The inaugural project, curated by PRIMARY (Books Bischof, Cristina Gonzalez, & Typoe), included eleven contemporary artists (Jim Drain, Daniel Arsham, FriendsWithYou, Jen Stark, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Kenton Parker, Andrew Nigon, Bert Rodriguez, Austyn Weiner, Bhakti Baxter & Cody Hudson), each whom created original works of art for this innovative public exhibit.
The first installation of its kind, this exhibition was viewed by more than 240,000 visitors over the first four days and The Arts Initiative public relations campaign generated roughly 140,000,000 media impressions, which included national coverage in a variety of publications.
Congratulations to everyone who helped make this amazing exhibition a reality. We look forward to the next amazing incarnation of The Arts Initiative.
