Miami, FL (November 25, 2014) – Primary Projects (“PRIMARY”) presents Kenton Parker’s My First Kiss, made possible by Samsung. An ode to new love and nostalgic joy, the L.A.-based artist has created a large-scale, interactive tree house installation that will call Soho Beach House its home during Miami art week.
With ocean views from the site, visitors are invited to enter My First Kiss as a sanctuary of hand-drawn carvings and illustrations covering its interior walls. Most whimsically, lay back and view, through a special window in the ceiling, a live feed of the blue sky and clouds during the day and in the evening, the stars, moon, and cosmos via a newly-directed video by Parker. Bustling with butterflies and chrysalis, the creatures will come to full maturation by Basel’s end, when they will be set free.
A social media component of “My First Kiss” will allow for the writing and sharing of love letters via instagra,, and audiences are invited to select their own background music for the artist’s personal play list. Designed for adults and children alike, it offers an almost-secret hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Art Basel madness.
This installation is made possible through the generous support of Samsung.
