BLOUIN ARTINFO on PRIMARY’S “HERE LIES GEORGES WILDENSTEIN”

Affaire-Wildenstein-Scandale-en-toile-de-fond_article_landscape_pm_v8Miami art space Primary Projects is putting on a show during Art Basel Miami Beach called “Here Lies Georges Wildenstein,” using the name of mega-dealer Guy Wildenstein’s grandfather as shorthand for scandalous excess. A press release describes the art-dealing clan as wielding influence that was “so entrenched into the visual arts consciousness, that even allegations of being Nazi collaborators could not quite quell the media’s fascination with their limitless professional and personal clout.”

This show may not make it on to Guy Wildenstein’s radar screen — the Wildensteins are not really into contemporary art, and he’s kind of busy defending himself against three lawsuits in France charging breach of trust and possession of stolen property — but the work he’d probably find most insulting is Miru Kim’s performance piece “The Pig That Therefore I Am,” in which the self-proclaimed hygiene freak comes into “intimate, often dangerous, contact with a caged throng of live pigs.” [Primary Projects]
